Julia Leverone teaches Spanish and creative writing at the University of Texas at Dallas. Born in Massachusetts, she has found her way to Texas, where she and her small Honduran-American family are establishing roots. Julia received her doctorate in comparative literature–conducting examinations of poetry of witness of the Americas–from Washington University in St. Louis, and also has a Master’s of Fine Arts in poetry. She is a poet and translator, with a book of translated selected poems of Paco Urondo (Fuel and Fire), who wrote under, militated against, and was ultimately assassinated by the Argentine state in 1976. She has tutored non-native English speakers, as well, and has interpreted legal documents for Spanish-speaking friends and family.
